Build Up Aurora
In 2023, the city delivered on promises to address a top priority of our residents—transportation and roadways—by improving the condition of Aurora’s residential streets. All of the scheduled paving work is now complete.
According to national standards, the condition of 58% of the city’s overall street network, including neighborhood streets, was rated as fair or below leading up to the start of this project. The Aurora City Council approved a plan to fund the neighborhood improvements—ranging from concrete repair to street reconstruction—to bring the city’s overall street network back to good condition, especially neighborhood streets.
Rehabilitation roadwork happened this year in 35 neighborhoods with the greatest need for improvement. The project began with concrete repair, followed by paving work. Individual projects were prioritized based on the severity of street conditions.

Residential streets citywide will continue to be part of Aurora’s annual roadwork, with a continued focus on caring for what we have. A map of the planned work for 2024 and a newly updated five-year plan map will be posted in early 2024.
