Update on multimodal access improvements project
The city of Aurora has been working for several years now to complete a citywide sidewalk network that improves pedestrian safety and convenience, connecting residents to active transportation choices and enhancing the region’s multimodal system.
The city began the early phases of design of a project that would have constructed multimodal access improvements at three different locations along Havana Street and Yale Avenue. However, following a period of targeted community outreach, the city has decided not to move forward with the Yale segment of the project (between South Peoria Street and South Xanadu Way).
The city is continuing its work on Connecting Aurora, our first-ever citywide multimodal transportation master plan. Yale Avenue is one of the many important transportation corridors in Aurora that will be evaluated for other potential transportation improvements.
Work on the Havana segments continues
Design plans for phase 1 of the Havana portion of this project are nearly complete, with construction slated for later this year. A new project map will be uploaded soon, along with more details about the upcoming construction.
