What is the purpose of the city's roadway manual?

    The city's roadway manual provides the minimum acceptable criteria for the design and construction of the city's infrastructure, including roadway sections, geometry and sidewalks; traffic, signals, signage, striping and traffic control; pavement design, material and installation requirements; streetlights; and civil plan submittal requirements and process.

    What revisions are included in this update?

    2024 updates will be included here once the draft manual is complete. 

    A Summary of Changes for 2023 is included in the front section of the current manual.

    Is this the last update that will happen with the roadway manual for a while?

    No, additional updates are planned in the near future. 

    Any future updates will be coordinated with stakeholders and will be available for public comment prior to adoption.

    Why is the roadway manual important for our community?

    The roadway manual provides standards and guidelines related to the city's infrastructure to ensure the infrastructure meets or exceeds the minimum required standards. These guidelines make sure the city's infrastructure is built to last, keeping in mind the efficient use of city resources and taxpayer dollars.

    When will the roadway manual be adopted?

    The draft 2024 manual is in progress, and an anticipated effective date is not yet available. 

    The 2023 Roadway Manual has been adopted, with an effective date of February 1, 2023. 

    What projects are required to adhere to the 2023 Roadway Manual?

    Applicability of each manual is outlined in Section 1 - Applicability.

    Development and redevelopment projects as well as construction projects within city right of way are required to adhere to the city's codes, criteria, and manuals, including the Roadway Manual.
