At Aurora Water, nothing is more important than ensuring the health of our community by providing clean, safe and reliable water. To achieve this, we're offering the Lead Service Line Replacement Program at no cost to you.

Do you live in an older home? If your home was built in 1960 or earlier in Original Aurora, it might have a water pipe made of lead or galvanized steel, materials that can potentially release lead into the water.

What we're doing: Aurora Water and our contractors are checking these old pipes for free. If we find a lead or galvanized steel pipe, we will replace it with a safe copper service line for free. Normally, this costs approximately $10,000.

Here's how it works:

Within a month before work is planned, we will let you know by mail we're coming. Construction updates will also be available on this site.
72-hours before the inspection, we will leave a doorhanger.
During the service line inspection, we'll create a couple of small, 6" holes to view the pipe.
The holes will be covered and the landscape will be restored, as close as possible, to its pre-construction state.
If we find a lead or galvanized steel pipe, the property will be added to our replacement schedule. Replacements will begin in 2025 and by state and federal regulations must be completed by 2037.

Your part: If you're the property owner, all you need to do is sign the Acknowledgement and Agreement Form saying you're okay with us replacing lead or galvanized steel pipes if found during the inspection.The form links are on the top right of this page under Important Links.

Lead was sometimes used in homes built before 1960. If your home was built in 1959 or ealier and you are the property owner, please complete the Acknowledgement and Agreement Form. If you're not certain when your home was built, please provide your address to our Lead Service Line Replacement Program hotline by calling 720.859.4411 and they can look up your address.

Aurora Water is focusing the Lead Service Line Replacment Program in Original Aurora, the oldest part of the city, for homes built in 1959 or earlier. We are asking property owners in this area to sign an Acknowlegement and Agreement Form, which can be found on the upper right side of Engage Aurora, or visit Acknowledgement and Agreement Form.

Aurora Water began investigations, which is considered our first phase of this program, last year. We will continue investigations through this year and into 2025.

Our current scope is for homes built in 1959 or earlier. Statewide, the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has not show homes built prior to 1959 as having lead. Thank you for your question. The Lead Service Line Replacement Program is free. This includes the service line investigation, as well as replacement of the service line if lead or galvanized steel are found. If anyone asks you for a payment, they are not part of the Aurora Water program.

Thank you for your question. If the contractor damages your sprinkler system during the inspection or service line replacement, the sprinkler system will be repaired at no cost to the property owner or tenant.
