Thanks to everyone who attended our first-ever Engage Aurora Live!

We have a lot of critical projects happening right now that will impact Aurora's future, and we appreciate everyone who attended our family friendly event in April at the Aurora Municipal Center. This family friendly event featured booths focused on projects like Build Up Aurora, Connecting Aurora, Colfax BRT Next, the library strategic plan and more, and offered free food, a Touch-A-Truck area, gardening craft and tours of the AuroraTV studio for families to enjoy.

Hello! Curious, what are the plans for the Jewell “Wetlands” area? Is there a committee that discusses future use and ideas for parks and recreation areas?

Thanks for reaching out. The Jewell Wetland area is 46 acres of open space and natural area. As a passive recreation area, it's function differs from our active parks, so ballfields and playgrounds are not appropriate at this site. Utah Park directly to the west contains many active recreation amenities, including two basketball courts that will be constructed in the fall. We always need residents to volunteer to serve on the city's boards and commissions, which includes the Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and Open Space Advisory Board. You can find out more at AuroraGov.org/Boards. In addition, the city is conducting a quick survey to find out more about resident priorities related to infrastructure. Please visit EngageAurora.org/BuildUpAurora to find out more and take the survey by Aug. 31. Thanks!
