Your input is needed

The city is evaluating a project to improve accessibility in the Paul Tauer Aurora City Council Chamber, and is requesting public input on the proposed design.

Join us for a presentation and provide input in person or view remotely:
Wednesday, Aug. 12, 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Aurora Municipal Center, Aurora Room
15151 E. Alameda Parkway
Live sign language interpretation (ASL) will be provided, and the presentation will be captioned and transcribed using the Microsoft accessibility features. If other accommodations are needed (i.e. CART, large print materials, etc.), please submit a request to the Office of ADA Compliance and Accessibility (instructions below). If Spanish or other language access services are needed, please also submit an accommodation request to the Office of ADA Compliance and Accessibility. Individuals are highly encouraged to submit their requests a minimum of three business days in advance of the meeting.

Existing conditions

The current chamber design, which has been in place since the Aurora Municipal Center opened in 2003, provides accessibility in the following ways:

  • Wheelchair accessibility at the top level/press area but no companion seating
  • Three side-panel accessible seats
  • Access to floor/podium via stairs or elevator lift, with accessible floor seating
  • Access to council dais via stairs or through the Aurora Room

Project recommendations


Alternate project recommendations

Rebuild dais to allow space for accessible seating and proper circulation from ramp

  • Moves wheel chair seating to the sides
  • Current staff desks, podium pushed back closer to seating area and center row of seating is lost at floor level
