Project Update - Nov. 3, 2026
A contract was awarded for Construction Management/General Contractor (CM/GC) Services in October 2026.
Project drawings continue to be developed in coordination with the architect, the contractor, seating vendor, and city staff. This coordination is evaluating feasibility of public input requests including improving contrast of stair flooring; adding handrails for center aisles; captioning within the chamber; adding chairs at the end of existing rows to minimize lost seating; maximizing travel path widths; and increasing the width of the seating.
The project cost estimate, including the two new ramps, new seating and reconstruction of the dais, is tracking to remain with the allocated $1.5 million budget.
Upcoming project milestones (anticipated):
- December 2026: Decommissioning of equipment
- Dec. 7, 2026: Virtual Council Meetings begin
- Late January 2027: Contractor mobilizes
- August 2027: Construction Complete; begin recommissioning of equipment
An update will be given to City Council at the Nov. 9 Study Session. View the council agenda packet. The item is number 3c and the meeting begins at 3:50pm. If interested, you can view or listen to the meeting a variety of ways:
