What is the Red Tape Reduction Committee?
The Red Tape Reduction Committee was approved by Aurora City Council in December 2021.
The purpose of the ad hoc committee will be to solicit input from businesses, organizations, or industries that:
1. comply with city rules and/or regulations
2. are subject to city fees
3. are subject to an approval from a city department in order to operate within the city
The purpose of the feedback requested will be to determine if any rules or regulations, city processes or taxes/fees are required in Aurora but not in other municipalities, and/or if any of these are more onerous in Aurora than in other municipalities.
Who serves on the committee?
The committee is chaired by At Large Council Member Dustin Zvonek, and includes Mayor Pro Tem Francoise Bergan, Ward IV Council Member Juan Marcano and At Large Council Members Curtis Gardner and Danielle Jurinsky.
How is the committee hearing from the community?
The committee will hold at least three public hearings at which community members can share their experiences and ideas. In addition, this webpage will be available for feedback throughout the public-hearing process. All responses will be provided to committee members.

What happens after the public hearings?
At the conclusion of the public hearings, the ad hoc committee, along with the relevant city staff, will develop a list of ordinances, and/or resolutions to present to Council aimed at improving the business climate in Aurora by reducing or reforming any unnecessary rules, regulations, fees or city processes.
