Updates to the Proposed Project Design - March 2026

This winter, the project team has been busy coordinating with adjacent property owners, utility companies and other stakeholders to refine the design for the Peoria Street Bridge Replacement project. The following changes have been made since December:

  • Added detached sidewalks instead of attached sidewalks next to travel lanes, where possible
  • Made slight adjustments to Sand Creek Trail connection and gravel maintenance road alignment
  • Refinements to the bridge and retaining wall designs

Review the latest project description and exhibit.

Minor road and trail refinements will continue for several months. During the final design phase, the project team will also focus on:

  • Improving lighting to enhance safety for roadway and multimodal users
  • Suggesting construction phasing to maintain access
  • Minimizing impacts to adjacent properties
  • Reducing costly utility impacts
  • Enhancing safety with additional measures, such as guardrails
  • Exploring aesthetic design features
