The Council Rules Ad Hoc Committee is reviewing the Rules of Order and Procedure for the Aurora City Council to ensure that council meetings and other functions are conducted to serve the public and ensure effective council collaboration. The committee will review all sections of the City Council rules.

At this time, the committee is seeking specific feedback on Decorum. The committee began its work with proposals on decorum and virtual participation at meetings because we have received extensive prior feedback on these topics.

The committee initially discussed this at its March 24 meeting, during which time public comment was available.

Residents may submit feedback on this topic via the survey on this page through April 20 or in person at the committee's April 27 meeting at 5:30 p.m. in the Aurora Municipal Center, Aurora Room, 15151 E. Alameda Parkway. “Open discussion” will include speaker panels of individuals with similar positions (opposed, support, no position) for two to three minutes per person, depending on the number of speakers, and a brief period for committee members to ask follow-up questions and engage in dialogue with speakers

Following the April meeting, the committee will draft revised rules on decorum for additional feedback, which will be gathered via this page and accepted at the committee's May 21 meeting (5:30 p.m. in the Aurora Room). The committee may hold additional town hall meetings and listening sessions as needed.

After the committee has decided on the final recommendations, they will be heard at a council study session and a council regular meeting for final decision-making.

View the Council Rules Ad Hoc Committee webpage for additional information about schedule, members and meeting materials.
