Consultation has concluded
Redistricting of the city of Aurora’s six council wards will happen in 2023, and residents had an opportunity to weigh in on proposed changes.
From June 1 through Aug. 3, residents were invited to provide comments or suggestions regarding possible redistricting scenarios and ask questions at six meetings scheduled this summer or on this webpage. Thank you to everyone who attended a meeting or completed the survey.
The public meetings and this webpage are offering information on the redistricting process and details about proposed changes. The maps provided at the right and on display at the meetings show how the wards might be adjusted to accommodate changes in the city’s population and the new ward populations should the changes be approved.
The council will consider any proposed changes at a future study session, and any public comments received will be provided to the council as part of their decision-making process.
The Election Commission created two additional scenarios, Scenarios 4 and 5, which are posted under the Council Ward Maps. The Election Commission voted to move Scenario 5 on to the City Council for consideration at their Oct. 17 study session. The City Council reviewed and voted to approve by ordinance Scenario 5 at their regular council meeting in a first reading Oct. 24 and a final reading Nov. 14.
